Watercolour Shape Graphic (Folio Bonus Piece 3)

20181126_210036.jpg

For this piece I wanted to do something seperate from stuff like typography and logos, etc, i felt like doing something artsy/art related and fun but still using techniques found in adobe softwares to do this.

This piece will include multiple shapes, colours and messing around with different effects and gradients on different parts of the piece to make it look nice, and maybe giving it a bit of identity.

Watercolour-Shape

I decided to use watercolour textures in this piece because it was something I had touched on earlier last year and didn’t go back to.

I used two free sets of watercolour textures (Free Watercolour Textures and Free Watercolour Circle Pack) to create brushes with them, and use them on a number of rectangles I placed over each other and seperated, I then brushed over each individual shape with a different brush and created a visual piece through clipping masks.

If I was to revisit this piece I would purchase a higher quality of watercolour packs more suited to be turned into brushes, or make my own. I would also spend more time on planning out the colours/brushes on each individual shape.

The overall purpouse of this graphic could be used as a branding or even a simple t-shirt/clothing wear design.

Movie Poster (Folio Bonus Piece 2)

20181126_210710.jpg

In the same discussion with a group of friends, one of my media friends and me discussed using his movie (from his media class) as a basis for a movie poster, the Movie is titled [Insert Superhero Name]: The Movie.

The poster will include a photo of him as the main character, a coloured background, the title and some text relating to the basis of the film.

Below is the original image I used in the poster.

I worked around the image and took it out of the photo with Photoshop (and didn’t clean it up very well). And moved it into adobe illustrator.

I had discussions with my friend after watching his short film, and the film is basically a comedic take on comic book movies/characters, and from there I got the inspiration for the cartoony fonts i used, K26 Comic Kats (Dafont Link) and Comic Book (Dafont Link) were used for the Title and Poster Text.

Overall more could have been done with the text and background to make it look cleaner, as well as cleaning up the image of the main character more.

Avalent Brand Album Cover (Folio Bonus Piece 1)

20181126_171144.jpg

Essentially after having a discussion with my friend about what I should do for this Assessment he gave me the idea to do something like an album cover for fun, the original image my friend who owns the brand wanted me to use and mess around with is below.

jacob

And below is the final version of the Album Cover.

Avalent-Album-Cover

To get the distortion/glitch effect I just went into the colour channels in photoshop and moved the red and blue to either side of my friend in the photo, after this I did a little bit of work keeping the effect only on my friend and glitching up my friend in the photo and cleaning it up.

Once I finished up on photoshop I cropped the photo into the files dimensions and added the logo to finish up.

The overall piece loses quality due to the quality of the original photo but it ends up working with the effect decently in the end.

Typography in the Built Environment

20180225_175254.jpg

This image above was taken down the street from my place, along a bike path and neighbourhood fences, which are covered in graffiti.

This one photo includes two large pieces of worn out graffiti and one small piece of graffiti. I took this photo because these pieces of graffiti look to be typographic signatures of some form of an artist or person who left their mark, each to their own style showing a piece of their identity, and from their worn-out look, they seem to be somewhat old sprays.
